A simple and switchable triple‐wavelength erbium‐doped fiber laser (EDFL) with a linear laser cavity is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. In the experiment, by changing the state of polarization (SOP) inside the laser cavity through a polarization controller (PC), stable single, dual, and triple wavelengths under room temperature were obtained. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
