A linear symmetric stub‐loaded dual‐band rectangular microstrip antenna array (RMSA array) with nonuniform interelement spacing has been proposed for reduced side‐lobe levels at both resonant frequencies. The interelement spacing has been optimized using a gradient search algorithm. It is observed that the side‐lobe level reduces as a function of the number of elements. The predicted radiation patterns have been verified experimentally. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
