The design of an FSS screen constructed using a circular fractal configuration to implement a broadband microwave absorber is presented in this paper. The decrement method is used to measure the microwave absorber's reflective response. The reflectivity representation recognizes the characterization of the microwave absorber. Simulation and measurement results are presented and analyzed. An FSS screen with a lotus‐pod pattern is introduced in order to obtain a better bandwidth and absorption in this study. A broadband reflectivity response with 22% fractional bandwidth below −10 dB is presented. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
