A wideband pentagon‐slot microstrip antenna with a semicircle probe feed is proposed. The broadband characteristic is achieved by cutting a pentagon slot at each corners of the patch. The proposed antenna is able to achieve an impedance bandwidth of 68.3% for a VSWR of less than 2. Experimental comparison with a similar‐size retangular microstrip patch antenna has also been conducted in this paper. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
