This paper presents the design of two filters at a center frequency of 1 GHz using a novel type of ring resonator. Their advantage over conventional microstrip ring resonators lies on their lower‐frequency sensitivity to substrate thickness due to the addition of interdigital capacitors that concentrate the electric field near the surface. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
