The results of cross‐talk modelling in system of edge coupled microstrip lines terminated with a nonlinear load are presented. An analytical approach, based on a mixed time/frequency‐domain description, makes full use of the available dispersive model of coupled microstrip lines. The worked‐out algorithm utilizes a combination of Volterra and Taylor series in such way that only linear algebraic computations are involved in order to achieve a nonlinear load response. The accuracy of this method is verified by real circuit measurements. The simulation results are obtained from a specially designed software tool, Xtalk, that is based on the described technique. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
