Conventional loop filters often have large areas that are not fully utilized. To alleviate this problem, a novel elliptic‐microstrip loop filter centered at 6.65 GHz and with a fractional bandwidth of 23% is proposed. The fabricated filter has a measured insertion loss of about 1.5 dB and a 0.6‐dB ripple. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
