We report a simple technique to tune the free spectral range (FSR) of an all‐fiber Mach–Zehnder interferometer‐based wavelength interleaver. This technique involves on‐line monitoring of the spectral response while one of the arms of the interferometer is carefully stretched under a microflame. The interleavers fabricated by this technique exhibit stable wavelength‐sensitive features. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
