By controlling the cavity loss via bending of the grain medium fiber, a 6‐nm tunable wavelength range for a fiber‐ring laser based on a fiber Bragg grating with an up‐ramp reflectivity spectrum is demonstrated. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
