In this paper, a wideband lens amplifier is proposed as a spatial power combiner for C‐band services. The proposed lens amplifier has a tile‐tray hybrid structure that can solve isolation, wideband, and heat‐sink problems. Also, it has a balanced amplifier structure which has many benefits, such as high output power, but remains a simple circuit configuration without a balun. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
