A dual‐band microstrip open‐loop filter on a single substrate is proposed. The filter can be designed by using the traditional design procedure of a single‐band filter and the specifications of the two bands can be easily met. In addition, the structure is suitable for a cascaded filter in order to improve the frequency response. The good agreement between the numerical and measured results validates the proposed structure. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
