A compact ring resonator using a negative‐refractive‐index microstrip line is presented. It is demonstrated that the ring structure resonates even with an inner diameter of zero. The total circumference of the proposed resonator is reduced by 84%, as compared to a conventional ring resonator at 1.2 GHz. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
