The beam‐steering characteristic of a 1 × 4 linear Gunn‐integrated active antenna array is investigated by varying the bias voltages of the different elements in the array while keeping the side‐lobe level 10‐dB below the main beam level. By varying the bias voltage of all four elements simultaneously, the optimization of beam steering exhibited a beam scanning of 40° with 1.85‐dB power deviation in the main beam, which is better than the previously reported data. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
