We present a single‐layer circular‐slot antenna, fed by a microstrip ending with a rectangular stub, which is suitable for wireless ultra‐wideband (UWB) communications. The antenna is fully characterized in terms of impedance bandwidth, phase linearity, gain, and radiation pattern. The time‐domain pulse response versus azimuth and elevation is also studied numerically. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
