Abstract A new feed structure for dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) is proposed in order to achieve dual‐frequency operation. This structure is composed of two ring slots etched on the ground plane, and one of them is fed by a gap source. By adjusting the structure parameters, the ring slots can excite the DRA to operate at dual frequencies. A hemispherical DRA is considered and the obtained results verify the proposed design. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
