Simultaneous all‐optical header processing and control‐packet switching are demonstrated by using multiwavelength injection‐locking in a single Fabry–Pérot laser diode. A special two‐level control packet is used to process the header of the data packet at 5 Gb/s. The entire control packet is all optically switched ON or OFF. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
