A model of the printed CPW‐fed slot antenna based on the lossy transmission‐line method is presented. An original field distribution inside the slots is proposed to compute the input impedance of CPW‐fed radiating slot antennas. The theoretical and experimental results are compared successfully in the X‐band for radiating slots printed on low‐ and high‐permittivity substrate. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
