In this paper, we carry out a numerical comparison between two hybrid 2D generalized finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) algorithms, designed to analyze objects with fine details, without using the very small time steps dictated by the Courant condition. We evaluate the accuracy and the computational complexity of the above algorithms, employing either subgridding or triangular gridding to model the fine details. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
