Copper microstrip filters using spiral resonators, with a centre frequency of about 1 GHz and bandwidths of 5% and 16%, are designed and tested. Their advantages over parallel‐coupled filters are smaller size and more convenient shape. The spirals alleviate deterioration in simulation accuracy, over‐etch tolerance, and losses due to the size reduction. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
