Artificial dielectrics prepared as planar grids appear to have potential use and applications at microwaves due to their easy fabrication and their wide range of obtainable properties. Here, we study a grid of metallic S‐particles introduced in the design of a coplanar waveguide and demonstrate the resonant influence of the grid to the S‐matrix of the coplanar waveguide. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
