A broadband low‐profile E‐shaped patch antenna with a novel microstrip‐compatible feed is presented. The new feed structure makes E‐shaped patch antennas more suitable for integration with microstrip circuits. It is demonstrated by designing and testing an antenna with a height of 3.3 mm and a return‐loss bandwidth of 5.03–6.12 GHz. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
