Abstract A novel compact slotted microstrip antenna for circular polarization (CP), using a new type of organic magnetic substrate for the first time, is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna is analyzed using the FDTD method and demonstrated by experiment. The measured results of proposed CP square and circular patches show that this new magnetic substrate design not only reduces the antenna's size, but also provides much wider impedance and CP bandwidth. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
