This paper shows that, by using the current density distribution on a patch, the positions of shorting pins and slots can be determined so that the unwanted modes are suppressed. An example of applying this technique to a rectangular patch to suppress the second and third harmonics is presented. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
