An experimental investigation of a novel compact Wilkinson power divider incorporating a 1‐D PBG slow‐wave structure, in the form of perforation on the curved microstrip line itself, is presented. The size of the power divider is reduced by 22% due to the slow‐wave effect. The inclusion of the PBG cells does not generate additional insertion loss when compared to the conventional design. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 31: 81–83, 2001.
