In this letter, a convenient and general approach is presented for analyzing nonradiative dielectric (NRD)‐guide leaky‐wave antennas using the finite‐element method (FEM) and perfectly matched layers (PMLs). A typical NRD‐guide leaky‐wave antenna is calculated to confirm the validity of the proposed approach. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 30: 173–175, 2001.
