An erbium‐doped fiber‐ring laser (EDFL) with more than 50 nm of continuous wavelength tuning was achieved and analyzed through a numerical approach. An angle‐tuned Fabry–Perot etalon was incorporated in the laser cavity as the wavelength‐selective element. The numerical values are in close agreement with the experimental results. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 29: 213–215, 2001.
