A broadband rectangular microstrip antenna, which utilizes a rectangular channel feed to obtain 25% impedance bandwidth, is described. A finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) analysis of the element's input impedance and radiation patterns versus measurement are presented. The FDTD impedance analysis utilizes a simplified coaxial probe feed. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
