A dual‐band internal handset antenna (IHA) with a novel 3D structure is presented. Numerical results based on the finite‐element method (FEM) for input‐return loss and radiation‐gain pattern are investigated and compared with the measurements. Good agreement between the computed and measured results is obtained. The effects of the geometric parameters on the characteristics of the proposed antenna performance are also extensively studied. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
