Reflection and transmission behaviors of an E‐plane T‐junction in a parallel‐plate waveguide are theoretically investigated. Green's function and the iterative procedure are used to obtain the iterative equations for the H z field modal coefficients. Numerical computations illustrate the characteristics of reflection and transmission powers in terms of frequency. A dominant‐mode solution is presented and compared with higher‐mode solutions. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
