In this paper, the performances of an adaptive antenna array control strategy, based on an improved genetic algorithm, are evaluated in terms of signal‐to‐interference‐noise ratio (SINR). The working case considered deals with the presence of co‐channel interfering signals characterized by stochastic arrivals, phases, and lifetime. This scenario provides a reliable testing benchmark for such array control methodologies. The simulation results prove the robustness of the learned real‐time genetic algorithm (LRTGA) in the presence of non‐deterministic interferences as well. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
