The antenna system for a dedicated short‐range communication (DSRC) system must have pattern characteristics that satisfy the system's specifications. Also, the antenna system needs to have good space efficiency for mounting on a roadside base station. The proposed antenna has the traveling‐wave structure of a double‐looped monopole array. The Wilkinson power divider is used for the in‐phase feeding of the array. The designed antenna system's performance is suitable for the DSRC system. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
