A performance analysis of an indoor optical wireless communication system has been carried out for both a conventional hybrid system and a pyramidal fly‐eye diversity receiver with different fields of view. Novel results are presented for a hybrid system that employs a diversity technique, based on a triangular pyramidal receiver under various FOVs and in the presence of directive noise sources and multipath dispersion. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
