In this paper, a small‐footprint, athermal, hitless, reconfiguration‐optical add‐drop module with an inherently integrated optical power controller is presented. This unique multiplexer cannot only add‐drop any wavelength among designed wavelength channels without interrupting through traffic, but can also dynamically control the output power of an add‐drop channel. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
