This paper describes optimal coplanar waveguide (CPW) 2 nd harmonic notch filters that utilize metal‐insulator‐metal (MIM) capacitors at each discontinuity, eliminating the need for conventional air‐bridges and significantly reducing the filter footprint. The circuits were fabricated on a high resistivity, 400 μm‐thick silicon substrate. Theoretical and experimental data for 42 GHz notch filters employing straight and bent shunt stubs are presented. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
