This paper presents a two‐arm microstrip spiral antenna with a circular aperture on the ground plane that produces either an axial beam or a tilted beam, depending on the operating frequency. A 50‐Ω microstrip feedline is divided into two 100‐Ω lines that feed the spiral antenna from the outer end of the spiral arms with a 180° phase difference at f o . The antenna is realized on a planar form without any balun circuit using a microstrip structure, which is easily compatible with millimeter‐ and microwave‐integrated circuits. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
