An exact matrix polynomial series solution for oblique propagation in a cholesteric liquid crystal, reported in this journal some years ago, was numerically implemented. After a slight reformulation, it was found that numerical results can be accurately and quickly obtained with a simple desktop computer. With the high accuracy available, boundary value problems can be solved very easily. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
