The electromagnetic scattering by Metallic Photonic Band‐Gap materials, composed of cylindrical wires, is considered. A fast and accurate analytical method is proposed to compute the radar cross section of such structures with or without defects. Results are given and compared with success to those of numerical methods. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
