This Letter presents an accurate and stable method for the solution of transient electromagnetic response from conducting wire structures with the use of the time‐domain electric‐field integral equation (TD‐EFIE). By using an implicit scheme with the central finite difference for the TD‐EFIE, the transient responses from a wire scatterer illuminated by a plane wave and a wire antenna with an impressed voltage source are obtained. Also, a wire above a conducting plate is considered. Numerical results that show the validity of the presented methodology are presented. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
