In this Letter the scattering from finite periodic structures characterized by planar interfaces is analyzed with the use of a uniform asymptotic physical optics (UAPO) technique. The asymptotic results are compared with the results obtained with other techniques and with measured data, and demonstrate good accuracy for the UAPO. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
