The design, manufacture, and testing of a compact Ku‐band monopulse horn is described, with an emphasis on an effort to maximize the return loss of the sum, azimuth, and elevation channels. The results show that the multimode monopulse horn has the required radiation patterns and acceptable return loss for its narrowband operation requirement. The bandwidth is found to be limited by the difficulty of matching the three channels simultaneously. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
