This study demonstrated a four‐wavelength dense‐wavelength‐division‐multiplexing (DWDM) system for 256‐QAM digital signals over a 4‐km multimode fiber (MMF) transmission. Such a DWDM 256‐QAM subcarrier multiplexed (SCM) system has the transmission capacity of 10 Gbit/s over a 4‐km MMF transmission by using 252 simulated continuous‐wave (CW) carriers. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
