We built a test‐bed of a hybrid fiber radio (HFR) system for 60 GHz millimeter‐wave wireless communication. Transmission at 155 Mbps over 24 km of an optical link with a tolerable BER less than 10 −6 was achieved over the pico‐radio cell with a radius of 2.6 m, which confirms the feasibility of 60 GHz HFR systems. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
