The contribution to the induced current in a wire inside a conducting box due to field penetration through a narrow slot in comparison with the contribution from leakage through a large aperture has been studied. Different placements of the wire have been evaluated in order to find under which circumstances the narrow slot can be neglected in comparison with the large aperture. © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
