Experimental results of a C ‐band miniature orthogonal mode transducer (OMT) designed with the finite‐element method are presented. The VSWR characteristics are good; the isolation is rather high, which can reach 60 dB at some frequencies. Compared with the traditional OMT, the volume has been decreased by 20%. An efficient method has also been employed to adjust the center frequency within the range of 11.3%, which has been verified by experiments. © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
