A full‐wave CAD tool has been implemented for the design of H ‐plane rectangular‐waveguide passive circuits. The software is based on the finite‐element method and evolution programs. The tool has been employed for the design of a load, optimized for both miniaturization and robustness with respect to fabrication tolerances. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
