Mol. Nutr. Food Res. 2018, 62 , 1700932 DOI: 10.1002/mnfr.201700932 Butyrate, a gut microbiota metabolite, promotes histone acetylation and DNA demethylation in the promoter of DNA mismatch repair (MMR) gene in colorectal carcinoma cells, a process dependent on isocitrate dehydrogenase‐1 and α‐ketoglutarate. The immunofluorescence staining of PCNA, a marker of proliferating cells, is suppressed by butyrate at a physiologically relevant concentration in human colonic lumen. Further details can be found in article number 1700932 by Xiaofei Sun and Mei‐Jun Zhu.
