Design of printed UWB antenna with CPW and microstrip‐line‐fed for DCS / PCS /bluetooth/ WLAN wireless applications

Abstract Spiral‐shaped UWB antennas, which are differ from each other in terms of feeding structure are presented in this manuscript. CPW and microstrip line feeding are used to excite the designed antenna to obtain different performance parameters. The overall physical dimensions of proposed antennas are 27 × 27 × 1.6 mm 3 . These antennas are designed on low cost FR4 glass epoxy substrate with 1.6 mm thickness and dielectric constant 4.4. Impedance bandwidth (S 11 < −10 dB) obtained for measured CPW‐fed antenna is 176.82% ranging (1.23‐20.0 GHz) and microstrip line‐fed antenna is 169% ranging (1.68‐20.0 GHz). Various performance parameters of both the designed antennas are observed and calculated, such as, radiation pattern, gain, group delay, and radiation efficiency, which all are in the acceptable range for distinct UWB communication and other wireless standards. The optimized designed antennas are fabricated and tested for the validation of results and comparison among simulated and measured results of antennas have been made and found in good agreement with each other.
