A method of constructing multiband filtering functions from single‐band functions using rational reactance mapping functions is presented. The technique can be applied to coupled‐resonator filters with N pass‐bands, each of arbitrary bandwidth and centre frequency. The resulting filter topologies are simple to implement and do not introduce cross‐couplings beyond that of the original low‐pass prototype. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
