A Java‐based, two‐dimensional electromagnetic (EM) scattering field simulator—RCS2D—is introduced. It enables one to explore EM wave—arbitrary object interaction under a plane wave illumination. RCS2D uses both method of moments and finite‐difference time‐domain models for both transverse magnetic and transverse electric polarizations. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
