Abstract Preconditioning is crucial for the convergence of GMRES iteration in the Harmonic Balance analysis of RF and microwave circuits. In this article, mixed frequency/time‐domain preconditioners for harmonic balance Jacobians are presented. The efficiency of mixed preconditioners is demonstrated with realistic simulation examples. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE, 2009.
